The name of the zentai first came in the year of 1886. At the beginning of 20 century, it still just

could be seen in circus and acrobatics. From 1920s to 1930s, the style of zentai became the style

of swimsuits, which keeps using till today. Then the use of zentai started to vary. We could find the

dancers liked to wear zentai. For example, the girl played a show in Broadway would wear

legging to match her zentai.

Although the traditional style zentai were mostly used by circus performers in 1950s, zentai began

to play a role in sport suit. Schools and gyms were the two places that used zentai most. At that

time, zentai was in color black and made of very thick material. From the 1950s to 1970s, the

appearance of zentai changed a lot. At the end of 1970s, colorful zentai came out and usually was

seen in ballet show and sports.

Since zentai has been widely used in daily life, like Disco dancing and Aerobics, its material was

changed to kinds of nylon and spandex or even coton. Some famous person played great part in

broadcasting zentai.at the end of 1980s, zentai was more similar to bikini but with belts and

shoulder girdles. When it came to the head of 1990s, zentai took place of shorts in sport suit.
